many people carry a scarcity mindset without realizing it. even when income increases or opportunities appear, the fear of not having enough quietly drives decisions — sometimes the same decisions that keep them financially stuck. scarcity thinking shows up in everyday choices: hesitating to invest, overprioritizing short-term comfort, avoiding calculated risks, or holding onto cash that could be working harder. it’s the voice that says “i can’t afford this” even when, with planning, it would be manageable. it’s the feeling that every dollar spent is a threat rather than a tool.
